Kim Vu Fabric x Mekong Petrochem: Over 1,500 Used Garments Given a New Life

In every company, uniforms are replaced from time to time. While the amount of clothing discarded by each individual may seem small, across hundreds of employees, it can quickly add up to a significant volume.

Throwing them away would be wasteful. Keeping them indefinitely is not a sustainable solution either.

With one question in mind — “Where do old clothes go when they are no longer in use?” — Kim Vu Fabric launched the Clothing Rebirth Project, an initiative designed to support businesses in collecting, sorting, and recycling used uniforms and clothing.

In September 2026, this meaningful journey reached a new milestone with the participation of Mekong Petrochem Joint Stock Company.

Connected by a Shared Vision for Sustainable Development

Founded in 1996, Mekong Petrochem has more than 30 years of experience in Vietnam’s petrochemical industry. Initially established to serve the Mekong Delta region, the company has since expanded its network nationwide while strengthening its presence in international markets.

Alongside its position as a leading supplier of petrochemical materials, Mekong Petrochem has consistently pursued sustainable development by optimizing resource use, reducing waste, and integrating environmental responsibility into its long-term strategy.

This shared vision brought Kim Vu Fabric and Mekong Petrocheml together through the Clothing Rebirth Project.

Rather than treating it as a conventional clothing collection campaign, Mekong Petrocheml transformed the project into an internal initiative called “Rhythm of Renewal”, where employees could not only contribute their pre-loved clothing but also share the personal stories behind each item.

An Impressive Result: Over 1,500 Garments Collected in Just 9 Days

From September 14 to 22, 2026, Mekong Petrochem staffs were encouraged to go through their wardrobes and select clothing they no longer used to contribute to the program.

What made the campaign particularly meaningful was that each donated item could be accompanied by a “Memory Card.” Employees were invited to write a short note about a memory associated with the item, their reason for passing it on, or a wish for its next journey.

One employee wrote:

“Giving does not leave us with less. It makes life feel fuller.”

Another shared enthusiastically:

“Every old piece of clothing has a story of its own. This was not simply an opportunity to clear out our wardrobes, but also a chance to look back on the things that had once been part of our lives.”

Another message was simple yet heartfelt:

“Today, I’m contributing a few items from my wardrobe. I hope they find the right place, the right person, and continue to be useful.”

These stories were shared, revisited, and recognized within the company. Among them, Nguyen Duy Khoi was one of the employees acknowledged for his meaningful contribution and story.

Through these personal connections, “Rhythm of Renewal” became more than a collection campaign. It created an opportunity for employees across the company to participate, share, and connect around a common purpose.

After just nine days, the campaign successfully collected more than 1,500 used garments, equivalent to approximately 300 kg of clothing.

But collection is only the beginning of their next journey.

Kim Vu Fabric is committed to ensuring that 100% of all collected clothing and uniforms are handled according to Zero-Waste principles. The garments are carefully sorted into two main pathways: Reshare and Recycle.

  • Reshare: Clothing that remains in good condition is carefully selected and donated to charitable organizations and community shelters, allowing each item to continue creating value in a new chapter.
  • Recycle: Worn-out or damaged uniforms and clothing are transferred to Nam Phong Factory, Kim Vu Fabric’s recycling partner, where they undergo specialized processing to be transformed into new raw materials.

With Gratitude to Mekong Petrochemical

Kim Vu Fabric deeply appreciates Mekong Petrochem for transforming the Clothing Rebirth Project into a meaningful internal initiative that not only promotes sustainability but also strengthens connection and engagement among employees.

Together with Kim Vu Fabric, let’s spread the spirit of sustainable living and turn used-clothing recycling into a meaningful and lasting sustainability milestone that your organization can be proud of.
